Crafty D.I.Y

Hello,

A round up of Christmas D.I.Y is on the agenda today, I wonder why ?!:)

Have you tried making your own garland?
These twine garlands are just too cute over at a pocket full of dreams.
They could also be used for any  Parties through out the year!

And...a super sweet and easy Advent calendar on Martha Stewart blog.

Or this one would make the perfect first Christmas Advent Calendar for our new babies, don't you think?! :)

Crafty D.I.Y: fav recipes from our blog contributors

Hi,

Today we have decide to share the Christmas spirit by asking our "Brisstyle behind the scene team" to share with us some favourite recipes to inspire your festive season cooking!

Belinda (behing the label Liddle apples) is sharing her Gingerbread biscuits recipe:

Samantha (behing the label Jetta's Nest) is sharing her famous Cacao Date balls!

Cacao Date Balls (or Power Balls as we like to call them)
1/2 cup cashews, 1/2 cup almonds, 1/4 cup pepitos, 1/4 cup sunflower seeds, 1/2 cup sultanas, 1 cup of fresh dates (I usually need more but one cup is a good start), 2 generous tablespoons of raw cacao powder (you can use cocoa or carob but the flavour from cacao is second to none), a drizzle of vanilla.  Whizz everything together in a food processor to form a smooth thick paste.  It will come together in a lumpy clump when it's good to go so you may need to add more dates to get the right consistency.  I whizz for a bit longer then to get my nuts and seeds quite tiny and the whole mix quite smooth.  Roll into little balls (I use my melon baller to get the right quantity, if you do this too, wet it first so the mix doesn't stick) and roll in coconut (littlest boys favourite job).  Put them in the fridge for a bit to chill and harden up then eat with coffee or hot chocolate or on their own!

And on my side...
I truly love baking, cooking...eating :) lol

But it seems like savoury tarts are definitely my all time favourite when the weather is beautiful and we like to go on picnics!
I also bake Gluten free so you may find it helpful if you have some diets restrictions with gluten or your guests do have some...

We hope we have inspired you!!

Happy Friday!

Oh what a lovely Eco Market!

The rain came down but that couldn't dampen the enthusiasm of the hundreds of Eco Handmade Warriors who descended on St Augustine's on Saturday to get in some pre Christmas ethical shopping.

Many thanks must go to all the stall-holders who braved the conditions outside to still bring their special brand of eco loving to their fans.

Heartfelt thanks to our community of volunteers inside and out and to our fabulous hard working market and workshop crews.

Treetomato and i spy designs

In particular, one of the busiest stands outside on the day was our friends at Reverse Garbage who soldiered on despite the deluge much to the delight of many customers who visited their site - many of whom had made the trip in especially to purchase the special handpicked range of  RG supplies.

Our other fabulous event supporter Peppermint was inside spreading their minty love,

Guest Post :Ali from Jellygnite

Hello :)

This week we are very happy to  welcome our first guest post from former founding committee member Ali of label Jellygnite.

Ali has been travelling around Europe and settled in Italie for the past few months.
It is so nice to have some little glimpse into such a great adventure!

Please make yourself comfortable to take off for your "e- travel" to Italy with our dear Ali!
:::

As a family, we have been living it up on the other side of the world for the past few months. We have taken six months out of our lives to experience something different. We are living in Dolianova, a little town just north of Cagliari, the capital city of the Italian island of Sardinia. I have been keeping a blog of our adventures atwww.residenza-elettiva.com and here is a post I wrote recently on the great street art I've discovered over here in 'our' city!

enjoy x

*************************************************
It seems that Cagliari’s street art culture is quite developed. It’s fun to wander around the city admiring all the street art. There are a few artists’ works I can recognise about the place – images of whales or of funny little people – and there is also street art that has taken delightful advantage of the surrounding street environment to create amusing artworks.
Lots of little faces adorn the electricity meters.
I was please to see a bit of yarn-bombing in Italy too!
I love this one!
These little men are all over the city – I think they’re having a party here.
Whale-watching.
The whales are my favourite. I always go to Cagliari armed with my camera in the hopes of spotting some new whales. My family is enthusiastically in on my adventure, often dangling the camera out of the car window or slowing in crazy 3-lane traffic (which is usually more like 6 ‘unofficial’ lanes) just to get a new whale pic!
Some are sneaking a kiss, hopelessly in love….
Some are sliding down stairs…
Some are a bit shy…
Some seem a little aloof…
Some are just too quick!
I really love the serenity that seems inherent in whales anyway. These whales of Cagliari seem to be peacefully floating their way through the city; up the walls of the old town, floating in shadows by the highway and hiding around corners. These ‘graffiti’ whales are really quite harmless and quirky. They remind me a lot of the Australian illustrator Shaun Tan’s imagery.
I hope to discover some more swimming happily through Cagliari’s streets in the coming months before we leave.
********************************************************
Thank you so much Ali for taking us with you in this little tour
around the Cagliari's Street with you.
Now, If you would like to know a little more about Ali's adventures,
go and check
Residenza Elettiva for more !

Happy weekend!
